| The Diamond - A Picture of the Human Spirit |
| 02.06.09 (2:45 am) [edit] |
Diamonds invoke a deep longing in the soul. For years I have wondered at the power of diamonds, the unique characteristics that draw people to desire them wholeheartedly. I visited Portland diamond jewelry stores and purchased Portland diamond rings. I did my research on diamonds from the biggest diamond ever discovered (the Cullinan Diamond) to the cultural significance of diamonds in other civilizations. I even discovered that nearly eighty percent of all mined diamonds possess insufficient quality for making acceptable jewelry. But I could not discover the source of the diamond’s allure.
Eventually, I came to the realization that diamonds are a picture of life. Diamonds are a form of carbon placed under extreme pressure and exposed to intense heat in order to come out the other side strong and beautiful. They must pass through numerous processes as they are cut, faceted, polished, and mounted into settings to create lovely pieces of jewelry. In other words, they are the products of full lives spent working through trials and tribulations in order to come out on the other side whole and strong and filled with purpose – just like many people in the world today.
Diamonds demonstrate the indomitable human spirit that allows us to come through adversity to the other side with strength of purpose and beauty of spirit. They are the ultimate example of how life should be.
