| It can be difficult trying to come up with a gift idea for someone that you don't know very well, whether its for Christmas, a birthday, or another holiday. However, food gifts are great for people who have everything and are hard to buy for. A gift of food is a relatively easy gift to make or purchase, and many of our holidays are associated with a particular food. Valentine's Day usually brings chocolates to mind and Christmas may make you think of cookies or pistachios. You can use these to make a truly great gift. There are no set rules about what type of foods can be given as food gifts. For instance, I once received a bouquet of broccoli from a friend of mine who knew that I was practical and also on a health kick. My grandmother sends wholesale gourmet nuts every year for Christmas in colorful tins, and my cousin usually gets assorted coffees from her husband on her birthday. | Did you know that the earliest recorded un-tethered hot air balloon ride with human passengers occurred in Paris, France, in 1783? I know that hot air balloons aren’t very fascinating to most people, but I love them. After all, I’m a pilot and am addicted to soaring through the skies. My favorite part of the hot air balloon story has got to be the information we have about the king. You see, King Louis XIV was the king of France during that time. And, as the ever so compassionate man that he was, he decreed that the trial balloons would be piloted by condemned criminals! I thought that was a fabulous idea. However, Jean-François de Rozier and Marquis Francois d'Arlandes persuaded the king to allow them the honor of going up instead. I guess I know how they felt. When it comes to my plane, I want to be the one flying, not the one watching from the ground. I put my heart and soul into that plane, buying avionics supplies and taking it in for aircraft avionics repair whenever it experiences a hiccup. Diamonds invoke a deep longing in the soul. For years I have wondered at the power of diamonds, the unique characteristics that draw people to desire them wholeheartedly. People can give the computer credit for being directly and indirectly responsible for a lot of technological advances, including the plasma television. After all, scientists only invented the plasma television because they were trying to design a new computer monitor. It's not surprising that our society is able to enjoy television and computer viewing as a direct result of scientists who tirelessly seek new answers and simple fixes, like inventing DVI-d cables as replacements forcomponent cables . For many people today, televisions and computer monitors are interchangeable. I have friends who don’t own a television. They do, however, have a 28” computer monitor, and they watch television shows online either on the network sites or on Hulu.com. I also have friends who don’t use computer monitors. They hook their computers up directly to their televisions and surf the internet with a specialty remote control.
