When making candles, modern candle makers use wax melters and other devices that warm the wax/paraffin. After the paraffin is heated, it is poured into a mold, creating the type of candle. The wick is then inserted and held in place by a rod so that it remains upright during the hardening process. After the candle is hardened it is then removed from the mold. It is that simple to make a candle if you have the right equipment.

I have all of the right equipment, but there are even kits you can buy at retail stores and online that include everything you need to make your very own candle. Then all you have to do is figure out what scents you want and have fun.
